Fluid Changes
Fluid Changes
We, at Bruce’s Automotive believe that changing your vehicles fluids is one of the most important things you can do to protect against unwanted problems.
Let me tell you a story. I own a Toyota pick up that is well over 20 years old. It has never had a major repair even though it has over 200,000 miles on it and was used to tow a boat for most of its life.
How did it last so long, so well? I think it was because we used it to tow the boat. Every year in the spring, that little truck got all of its fluids changed before boating season. I think it has lasted so long because it never had bad fluid in it in its life.
Did I change the fluid more often than the manufacturer recommended? Of course I did, I was using it at the limit of its capacity (the boat is fairly big compared to the truck). Do you need to change your vehicle’s fluids as often as I did? Probably not. Should you change your vehicle’s fluids more often than the manufacturer recommends? Quite possibly. Should you change the fluids as least as often as recommended by the manufacturer? Of course.
Essentially, what I am saying is that is very important to get the fluids changed on a regular schedule. Why not wait until the fluids get dirty? Because if the fluids are already bad we’re late. Don’t wait for the fluids to deteriorate. Good clean fluids all the time, that’s the secret to long vehicle life.
